Recruitment

As the owner of Laurence Tremayne Estate Agents, arguably the most important and probably the most difficult task I have is the recruitment of staff. Finding the right kind of person, who will care about and look after my business as much as me, is extremely difficult. I have a very clear ethos with regard to the people I employ.  I have a policy of “hire for attitude and train for skill”.

At Laurence Tremayne we can teach someone to be a very good estate agent, but we cannot teach them to have the right personality and social skills we require. I totally understand that it is people that make a great business work, and in return hope that working for us can also enrich the lives and standard of living for our employees.  Normally I prefer to recruit from outside of our industry but also acknowledge there are some very talented estate agents out there who could complement our team. At Laurence Tremayne we do not set individual targets but team targets, and as a team we strive to achieve. One thing about great teams though is they don’t last forever and so the need for recruitment is on-going.

From 2014 Laurence Tremayne Estate Agents will become the area’s representative for the Guild of Professional Estate Agents and as a result ALL staff will enroll onto their in-depth training modules (40 certificated modules with pass or fail tests). All necessary support and training will be given to ensure all our employees obtain those passes for all industry related topics to further enhance their knowledge and our customers’ experience.

Laurence Tremayne recruitment process

All vacancies are first circulated to the Laurence Tremayne team. We follow an equal opportunities policy and always consider in house applications or recommendations first. If this does not produce a suitable candidate we advertise in the local press and on this website.

We request that interested applicants submit a CV and covering letter. We look at the CV’s in great detail to ascertain relevant experience and knowledge.

All interviews are conducted by the Director; Laurence Tremayne and on occasions existing experienced team members as their opinion is highly regarded.

We are proud of our culture and will only consider applications from candidates with a profile that fits well with our company and the profile for the specific job. The successful applicant undergoes an induction and training to make sure they are confident before they are expected to work independently.
